The Pregnancy
Center is a community outreach program that provides free pregnancy
tests, counseling, material assistance (such as maternity clothes and
baby supplies), and referrals for pre-natal and medical care, legal
services, housing, educational opportunities and job training.
Clients are educated on all the life-affirming choices open to
her for a resolution of the problems surrounding a positive pregnancy
test.
After the immediate
needs of the client are met, she may meet with a qualified social worker
to discuss her dreams and goals, what she considers to be her strengths
and her challenges and what she feels she needs to work on first.
Sometimes resolution of health problems, housing, income support,
mental health therapy, are issues that need to be attended to before the
client can attain the goals she has set for herself.
Appropriate referrals are then made for the client.
Goals Meetings are
then held with a caseworker at least every month after her initial
visit. The purpose of these meetings is to troubleshoot problems that
arose since the last meeting, provide affirmation for goals met, and
provide the opportunity for the client to set new goals for herself.
This is what the client commits to in order to receive material
assistance, such as diapers, formula, and clothing.
